'Echt niet!?' is a show around one simple question: Is it real or unreal? Or better: is it real science or a hoax? The contestants are shown some, mostly home-made, films with far-fetched content. Can they separate the 'non' from the 'sense'? Karma for their part made an opening title which looked more like a home video science test than some serious design work. Our humble apologies.

WHAT THE VOC? Dutch Broadcaster BNN delivers programmes for on a young audience. For 'Het Verbond van Ongeleide Correspondenten' (Union of Unguided Correspondents), which is a anarchistic journalistic programme, we developed opening titles and bumpers. Karma also created outdoor billboards: Smurf-icecream doesn't contain real Smurfs!

Science. But not as we know it. De Bovenkamer (The Attic Room... as in your brain) is a science programme for the Dutch broadcaster Teleac on public channel NL2. It is hosted by popular comedian Jan Jaap van der Wal who tries to make heavy science food a bit lighter. That's probably why Teleac went for our light-version of the opening titles.

Every year Dutch popular radio station 3FM awards a prize to the best songs and artists of the year. They asked Karma to cooperate with advertising agency Y&R. Together we created and produced several TV commercials to promote the 3FM Awards 2009.

VPRO 3VOOR12 CHANNEL IDENTITY
VPRO requested us to surprise a sophisticated audience with a fresh image to enhance the brand position of it's digital channel 3VOOR12 Central. We created a channel identity, that is very inspiring, and enhances the progressive programming and niche positioning. Musically it pushes the boundaries. The typography became the binding element between the shows. For the creation of the sequences we combined many techniques. The result is a distinctive channel identity re-enforcing the positioning as edgy & progressive music channel.
3VOOR12 is a progressive, leading music channel in the Netherlands, that is showing the latest from all music styles first. The inspiring on-air identity has to strengthen their brand position in the market place.

Dutch broadcaster RTL asked Karma to design the opening titles for Angstvanger (Fear Catcher). In this pilot - what will become a serie in 2010 - a life alchemist talks with people about their fears and phobia. With minmal means Karma created some smooth titles with some lofty music.

Comedy Central is one of the international brands of MTV Networks and launched in the Netherlands in April 2007. We were asked to make comedy top of mind in a saturated market. For this one stop destination of comedy we created a distinctive identity to establish a position in the Dutch TV market. The identity expresses the positive, entertaining and relaxing characteristics of humor. Besides, the identity emphasises the one stop destination of comedy in a clean and clear way. It focuses on Comedy Central as the central station for all comedy. Comedy Central realised a market share of almost 1% in a very short period and a spontaneous awareness of 30% within 3 months.

The Radio Bitches is like a Miss World election for female radio disc jockeys. You won't win an award with you looks only though. It's all about attitude and professionalism. This opening title was projected on a screen with a width of almost 20 metres (60 feet)! Talking about bitches.

VARA



Karma delivered design and audio for this musical and playful show presented by radio personality Giel Beelen an TV host Paul de Leeuw. The show is a re-make of an old programme which was being aired in 1961. In the new show new songs are being judged by a four-headed jury. Together with the audience they decide what songs are top and which aren't (flop). The song with the most 'tops' is going to be played during the popular radio show of co-host Giel Beelen.

When Ziggo Cable Television came with a new digital channel they asked Karma to come with a suitable channel identity. They needed a good-looking and smart operating system of templates which they could fill with variated content. The work we delivered was not only eye candy. It took some gooood thinking to work out the smooth flow.

For the VARA we have created and produced logo and opening titles for the new show of Giel Beelen, called Factor Giel. In this show radio DJ and personality Giel Beelen ondergoes extreme experiments to see how far he can go physically and psychologically. The show is produced by the VARA and will air on NL 3.

For the World Wildlife Fund we created and produced a 45" TV commercial for their campaign called 'De Wonderen zijn de Wereld nog niet uit'. The objective of this campaign is to raise awareness about the threatened nature and animals in the world by showing it's beauty. The campaign will be running the whole year.

We have been asked by Comedy Central to develop a b2b campaign to create awareness for Comedy Central among RTV planners and directors at media agencies with a focus on the success of Comedy Central. Therefore we have developed a 'Piece of the pie' campaign. The campaign was focused on the piece of the pie that Comedy Central has realised, which is a market share of 1.8% within the target audience 20 - 49. The campaign existed of a teaser that was sent out to 400 people, followed by 400 pie's that were sent out to these people, a website that was available for more information and print ads that appeared in different business media.

We have been asked by Red Bull to create and produce all their branded video content that will air on MTV this year. The Red Bull events that will take place are: 5 Pics, Backyard Digger, Julien Dupont, Surf Camp, BC1, Battle of the North Sea, Music Academy and Soundclash. Depending on the event, we create logo's, cromo's, promo's, chunks, webclips, outdoor, print, flyers. All the branded video content excists of audio we specifically compose for these projects.

Public channel KRO aired a travel show called 'Holy Shit' with presenter Sebastiaan Labrie. In this program Sebastiaan travels to different places in the world in search for local relligious events. We created the opening titles including the audio. We have focussed on the presenter as he is very characteristic and very involved in the show. We have created a mysterious leader to capture the essence of the show. The show realised a market share of 3% on average within the viewing population 6+.

Together with newsshow NOVA, youth channel BNN, has developed a daily, satirical newsshow, called: ‘De Nieuwste Show’. This show has been developed to reach youth and to bring daily news to them in a different way. We have developed the opening titles for the show. As the show needs to trigger young people to think about actualities happening in the world, we have translated this into the creative. We have developed a style that is bold and over the top to make a statement. During the week ‘De Nieuwste Show’ can be seen on NL 1 and realises on average 7% market share within the viewing population 6+.

We were asked to change the perception of local news for Omroep Flevoland. We have focussed Omroep Flevoland as the professional regional newscaster and developed their total identity. From strategy to screen. We have advised Omroep Flevoland on strategic brand level and created their brand map to direct the organisation into the right direction. Based on the brand map we have developed the corporate identity of Omroep Flevoland. From channel identity to website to office stationary to business cards, we created and produced the total identity for Omroep Flevoland. Our brand map is helping the channel to change their thinking. It has become the guide for the creation of content, delivery and communication.

'De Beste Bits' is a BNN program airing on public channel NL 3. The program shows the best bits of the content of BNN's web- and digital channel 101. We created and produced the opening titles including the audio. Our inspiration is taken from the definition of a bit, a small block of wood, falling apart in many even smaller blocks of wood. 101 can be seen on NL 3 and realises on average 3.5% market share within the viewing population 6+.

World Wide Fund for Nature 'Amazone' CAMPAIGN
For the World Wildlife Fund we created and produced their campaign called 'Amazone'. The objective of this campaign was to raise awareness about the threatened wildlife in the Amazone forest.
